Mobile phones are everywhere, I even heard a person saying “he can’t live a day without his phone on his pocket”. Phones changes the way we live, I remember when my mom got her first cell phone it was a bulky phone, can’t even fit on her pocket (that was a decade ago, no camera, no SMS, no MMS, a single band phone). I’m proud to carry that phone for her when we go out; it was a hip way back then. Now even elementary students own a mobile phone and today text messaging is not just a craze it’s a lifestyle (kaya nga yung co-teacher ko nag-eLoad na… ) Being the texting capital of Asia, almost every corner of the streets you can load up your phone using electronic loading system provided by the GREAT mobile phone networks on our country.
I recently bought my Nokia N-gage QD phone in Lucena (Php8, 000 with free 3 game card… mahal pa rin compare sa presyo sa Manila). Its game deck and a phone meaning it is designed to work as a phone and a game console… (nice phone and I’m loving it) I also bought a 512 MMC memory card that cost me (Php1, 100). My phone has Bluetooth connectivity to connect it to my notebook and play games with other N-gage users and compatible phone, a calendar, to-do manager, SMS, MMS, email, using Internet/GPRS and other ordinary phone features except that it doesn’t have a camera (.. anyway I don’t need that)
The phone offers a lot of features but not enough to satisfy my needs. A list of what my phone can do after I’ve installed apps, some are free others are not. I have over 60 games that I can play until my fingers gets numb, browse the web using Opera Mini, connect to various IM clients (Yahoo, MSN, AOL…) using Agile Messenger, I can read the Bible on the phone (that’s old and new Testaments), an anti-theft app on my cell that will lock the phone and send SMS to assign numbers if another SIM is inserted on my lost or snatched phone (very cool), use my notebook broadband internet connection instead of Smart GPRS/Internet so that I can surf for FREE (nice…mail me for details), detect and send message to other Bluetooth devices for FREE using Mobiluck, listen to MP3 files using UltraMP3 (I have a total of 43 songs right now with 64kbit and 22kHz sound quality… so who wants my iPod shuffle, joke lang), a HandDee guitar tuner (…of course to tune a guitar), RealOne player to play video files (I have 11 music videos and 23 videos)
...And of course my mom doesn’t use the old phone anymore, she now owns a Nokia 6630, my brother (Elmer) gave it to her as a Mother’s day present (how sweet…)
